This will one day be SPIDERMAN!
What you see is a golden brown wax body
that we posed in our computer and
printed out with our 3d printer.
The reddish brown on the face area and hands
is clay being built up,
this sculpture is in the early early stages-
the roughing out part part of the process really.

This is a line up of Simpsons characters.
This image was made using photoshop
so our client and the licensor (Fox)
could easily see relative scale of the sculptures-
Note how many different colors of wax
were used in the development of these figures-
the ones with the most colors were the ones
that needed little refinements as we did the job.

Mister Incredible next to a quarter!
This is a sculpt in progress and you can
see at least two different colors of wax
used on this sculpt.

Soap on a Rope

Judy Jetson as a soap on a rope! This was a real design challenge for a few reasons. reason number one is that Judy has a big head with skinny neck, arms and legs. Reason two is the end product was going to be made of soap, a relativly soft substance without much structural integrity.
Keeping these things in mind we produced the designs above trying to make what should be thin areas thicker (Look at how we positioned arms, legs and props to support her thin body parts) and maintaining character correctness by having her do things her character would normally do.

This is a wax sculpture of Bart Simpson trying to swipe

a Crusty the Clown doll from Santa's sack.

To some this figure looks easy

but try counting the spikes that make up the top of Bart's head

and know there is nothing easy about sculpting Bart,

other then we get to work with the great team over at FOX!

This is a great photo to me because it really shows how we work.
First there is a beautiful sculpture of Cinderella.
She's in a great pose with a flow to her dress and wonderful gesture.
Behind her is a high Bas relief of her castle,
built within a computer here in the shop and rapid prototyped.
Beneath both of these parts is a mechanical base
that will blow snow particles all around a snow globe dome
that is not pictured here.
Art meets engineering!

Painting Bambi

This is an actual studio shot of a Bambi paint master in progress.
You can see how all our colors are hand mixed to match Pantone Chips.
One of the secrets to a great paint job for most cartoon characters
is crisp clean edges where colors meet.
It's harder than you might think to achieve!

The Process of making a product in one image

This one image shows just how we do what we do.
Ideas, Presentation Boards, Licensor Comments,
Sculpture, paint and the PRODUCT.
It doesnt go any better than this project did.
It was a pleasure to work
with our freinds at Warner Brothers and DC Comics.
